Direct Wealth正財
The side that gathers steadily from one place.
What Direct Wealth means
Direct Wealth is drawn from the element under the Day Master's control, with the opposite polarity. A yang side and a yin side lock together like a matched pair, so it is called upright wealth. Where Indirect Wealth is what you gather by ranging widely, Direct Wealth is the agreed reward, the result that piles up from steady effort, and a practical sense for running a household. It is the character to check when looking at planning, saving bit by bit, and holding on to what has been built. Care with figures and records belongs here too.
The characters 正財
- 正upright, proper (Korean reading: jeong)
- 財wealth, goods (Korean reading: jae)
Upright wealth: a rightful share that comes in and stacks up in good order.
How Direct Wealth is found
First find the element the Day Master controls. Then take the member of that element whose polarity is opposite to the Day Master's. A yin Wood Day Master controls Earth, so yang Earth is its Direct Wealth. Earth has four branches, which is why a Day Master whose Direct Wealth is Earth ends up with two Direct Wealth branches. Counting those branches also rests on the polarity of the main hidden stem.
| Day Master | Stems | Branches (by main hidden stem) |
|---|---|---|
(You) |
| 丁 (Ding) | 庚 (Geng) | 申 (Shen) |
| 戊 (Wu) | 癸 (Gui) | 子 (Zi) |
| 己 (Ji) | 壬 (Ren) | 亥 (Hai) |
| 庚 (Geng) | 乙 (Yi) | 卯 (Mao) |
| 辛 (Xin) | 甲 (Jia) | 寅 (Yin) |
| 壬 (Ren) | 丁 (Ding) | 午 (Wu) |
| 癸 (Gui) | 丙 (Bing) | 巳 (Si) |
Each branch is judged by its main hidden stem alone. The Day Master itself is the point of comparison, so it is not counted.
Reading Direct Wealth in a chart
A chart where Direct Wealth has settled in is interpreted as having the strength to keep promises and build things up over time. It can be seen as a knack for setting daily routines and managing money and time. Having little of it is read as a freedom to follow what the heart wants over what the numbers say. When a year brings Direct Wealth, take it as a current for sorting things out and gathering them in, one step at a time.
An example of Direct Wealth
Suppose the Day Master is 乙 (Yi). Its Direct Wealth is the stem 戊 (Wu) together with two branches, 辰 (Chen) and 戌 (Xu). Both branches hold 戊 as their main hidden stem, and yin 乙 and yang 戊 have opposite polarity.
Common misreadings of Direct Wealth
A common idea
Direct Wealth is a salary and Indirect Wealth is a business, full stop.
How we read it
That comparison gets used a lot, yet it is no rule for fixing a job or a kind of income. This service explains Direct Wealth as a habit of steady building and a practical sense.
