About AevoStar
AevoStar builds your BaZi (Four Pillars) chart from your birth date and time and explains it in plain words. Here's what you can see, how it's calculated, how your details are handled, and who runs it.
What AevoStar does
Enter your birth date and time, sex and birthplace, and we build your natal chart from a traditional almanac keyed to the exact moments of the 24 solar terms: the year, month, day and hour pillars, eight characters in all, together with their Hidden Stems. On top of that you get the Five Elements balance, the Ten Gods, the Twelve Life Stages, ten symbolic stars and the combinations and clashes, along with your Luck Pillars, which change every ten years, and the flow of each year.
You can read the result two ways. Plain sums it up in everyday words with no Chinese characters; Detailed shows the full chart and the proper terms. You can check compatibility with someone else and share any result with a single link. The site is available in Korean and English.
Right now every feature is free, with no sign-up.
How it's calculated
The year and month pillars change at the exact moments of the Start of Spring and the other month-opening solar terms. We compute those moments astronomically and have checked them against figures published by the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute and the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan. A birth in the 23:00 hour takes the next day's day pillar by default, and you can switch to Late and early Zi instead. The clock is adjusted for your birthplace's longitude by default (you can turn this off), and Korea's daylight saving years and time zone histories worldwide are taken into account. What each rule was checked against, and where its limits are, is set out in How we calculate your chart.
What we hold ourselves to
We don't store what you enter on AevoStar's servers. Your birth date, time, sex and birthplace are used only while your chart is being calculated, and we never ask for your name, email address or phone number. When you share a result, though, the link itself carries your birth details, so check who you send it to. The privacy policy has the details.
Readings are for reference. They draw on traditional BaZi theory and don't stand in for medical, legal or financial advice. We try not to state the future as fact or to use language meant to frighten.
Where schools disagree, we show the rule we chose. For points like the Zi hour and the true solar time adjustment, your result's calculation notes show which rule was applied.
No overall compatibility score. Compatibility is where BaZi schools differ most, so we show five aspects, each on a three-step scale, and leave it there.
Where our data comes from
- Solar-term times: our astronomical calculations, checked against figures from the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) and the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ).
- Lunar calendar: the Korean lunar calendar checked against KASI lunar–solar data for 1900–2050, and the Chinese calendar used for births in Greater China, Singapore and Malaysia checked against Hong Kong Observatory tables for 1901–2100.
