Ren Water (壬) Day Master

River

WaterYang

Ren Water, the yang side of Water, appears as River in your results. Here we follow how water spreading wide becomes a reading of temperament, along with the element and yin-yang place of Ren Water and the stems it combines with or clashes against.

How it reads

The picture of Ren Water begins deep in the night with a wide river moving without a sound under the moon. A river does not hold one shape; it changes its width and speed to fit the land it passes through. The temperament we read from it sees broadly, takes a lot in, and gathers many kinds of people and information into a single current. Unfamiliar places are quick to feel like home, and choosing a new route when the situation shifts comes without much hesitation. Being tied to one spot for a long time, on the other hand, can feel confining. That ease with change is part of the strength of Ren Water. How wide and fast a river runs depends on the characters that add to its flow and the ones that act as its banks. With plenty of Metal and Water, the current strengthens and thoughts and plans reach far. With more Earth, the banks guide the channel and the reading turns toward growing deeper in one direction. The river stays a river even when its course changes, and that is the key to reading this Day Master.

Element and yin-yang

Gui Water (癸)

Of the two Water stems, Ren Water is the yang one. Gui Water, the yin side of Water, splits the element with it by polarity, so the Ten Gods label between them reads Rival. If Ren Water is a river running broadly across the land, Gui Water is closer to rain or dew coming down from the sky and soaking in. One flows by gathering, the other wets by scattering, and that is the line between the two. Both still answer to the same element.

Unlike compatibility, which pairs people up, the relations in this section are weighed only between characters inside your own chart. Metal adds to the river's flow, so its two stems are Resource; Wood drinks from the river, so its two stems are Output. Fire, which Ren Water manages, is Wealth, and Earth, which blocks and steers the channel, is Officer. A lamp lit on the riverbank, Ding Fire is Direct Wealth and the combination partner; river and lamp together point to Wood, an element that Ren Water nourishes. The noon sun beating down on the water, Bing Fire, is the opposite stem in a clash and counts as Indirect Wealth.

Common myths

Myth

A Ren Water Day Master changes their mind so often they are hard to trust.

In fact

This turns the image of a river changing course into a statement about keeping promises. AevoStar reads it as flexibility in choosing methods to fit the situation, and does not judge whether someone keeps their word from the Day Master alone.

Questions people ask

Is a chart with lots of Water the same as a Ren Water Day Master?

No. The Day Master is the single upper character of your birth day, while lots of Water means Water comes up often when your eight characters are counted. So some Ren Water Day Masters have only one Water character, and some charts with plenty of Water have a different Day Master. AevoStar shows the two separately and combines them in the type name.

Where does the picture of a river at night come from?

In the old correspondence that maps the elements onto times of day, Water belongs to the night after sunset. AevoStar borrows that correspondence and draws Ren Water as a river flowing wide at night. Water that grows deeper and quieter in the dark ties in with a reading of taking a lot in, more within than on the surface. The image has nothing to do with whether you were born at night.

Can a Ren Water Day Master not stay in one place for long?

We do not put it that way. Because the picture is flowing water, it is read as adapting quickly to new places, nothing more. In a chart with plenty of Earth and firm banks, growing deeper in one place can be what comes forward instead. How long you stay is shaped by the whole chart, the period you are in, and your own choices.

BaZi readings draw on traditional theory and are for reference only. Different schools may read the same chart differently.
