Noble Helper天乙貴人

Also called Heavenly Nobleman

A mark read as having someone to help on hard days.

What Noble Helper means

Noble Helper is named for a person of standing who offers a hand when you feel stuck. Classical texts rank this helper first among the favourable Symbolic Stars, holding that help stood close by whenever the stem of the birth year or day met particular branches. This service keeps the tradition but does not treat the mark as a promise about who helps you. It looks instead at a readiness to trust people and ask for what you need, and at the strength you draw from give-and-take. Many English books call it Heavenly Nobleman.

The characters 天乙貴人

  • 天sky, heaven (Korean reading: cheon)
  • 乙second of the ten stems; bird (Korean reading: eul)
  • 貴precious, noble (Korean reading: gwi)
  • 人human being (Korean reading: in)

A noble spirit of the sky, used in a chart for someone who helps at your side.

How Noble Helper is found

Only the Day Master serves as the reference. Every Day Master is assigned two branches, searched for in the branch seats of all four pillars. Finding either one is enough. Day Masters of yang Wood, yang Earth, and yang Metal share one pair, while the two Fire stems share another and the two Water stems a third. That makes five distinct pairs in all, and the Dragon and Dog branches belong to none of them.

Reading Noble Helper in a chart

With Noble Helper present, the reading is someone who opens a way by asking for help rather than holding out alone. Some readings split it by seat: year or month points to support from elders or society, day or hour to backing from close ties. A result without it does not mean nobody stands ready to help you. It can just as well show how much of your road you found yourself.

An example of Noble Helper

Take a chart of 乙卯 (Yi Mao) year, 己卯 (Ji Mao) month, 庚申 (Geng Shen) day, and 癸未 (Gui Wei) hour. For a 庚 (Geng) Day Master the helper branches are 丑 (Chou) and 未 (Wei), so the 未 in the hour branch is marked.

Common misreadings of Noble Helper

  • A common idea

With Noble Helper in the chart, hard problems sort themselves out.

    How we read it

That hope comes from the tradition that honours this helper above other stars. This service does not read it as a promise of outcomes; it describes a strength in giving and receiving help.

  • A common idea

No Noble Helper means nobody is there for you.

    How we read it

All ten Day Masters have two helper branches assigned. If none shows in your result, those two characters simply did not land in the branch seats of the four pillars.

Where schools differ

This service uses the Day Master alone. Some readings also search from the year stem, and some tables give 寅 (Yin) and 午 (Wu) rather than 丑 (Chou) and 未 (Wei) for 庚 (Geng). An old method splits the two by day and night births; here both count.
